As a student at The Thomas Lord Audley School; our aim is to fully prepare you for life in the World of Work. This will be accomplished through a range of activities which includes working alongside local business and employers, to ensure you are equipped with the right skills and attributes to successfully enter the World of Work. This includes raising aspirations and self- esteem through effective Personal Social Health and Economic Education, access to Impartial Information, Advice and Guidance, Careers Work Related Education embedded across the curriculum, awareness of Options at key transition points and attaining skills that employers need with their guidance.
What can you expect in Year 7?
Access to a qualified impartial Careers Guidance Adviser, access to careers software, for example, Kudos to help with career exploration and to inform regarding stereotypes. A progressive Careers Education programme delivered by the Form Tutors in PSHE time.
What can you expect in Year 8?
Transition support: access to an Options interview with a qualified impartial Careers Guidance Adviser. Access to careers software, Kudos. A progressive Careers Education programme delivered by Form Tutors in PSHE time. Options Evening where staff will be available to explain and advise you about your future path.
What can you expect in Years 9, 10 and 11?
A one to one interview with a qualified, Impartial Careers Guidance Adviser, Work Related learning in small group sessions, including talks from local careers specific employers with up to the date Labour Market Information. A progressive Careers Education programme delivered by Form Tutors and Specialists in Work Related Learning. This includes Employment Laws, Health and Safety and preparation for working life. Visits to and from universities and colleges and access to student finance talks and managing personal budgets. Support from local employers on completing a CV, Mock Interviews with local employers provided by Rotarians, Greater Anglia support in completing application forms for employment and colleges. Attendance at the Colchester Careers Conventions.
